Bar Hop Tonight $15

With its politicians, tourists, celebrities, Capitol Hill Staffers, college interns, international bureaucrats, assorted business people and just its average inhabitants, Washington's nightlife can be as varied and diverse as its population. From high-brow theatre, to low brow comedy clubs, from dance clubs to supper clubs, there is an after dark option for everyone. So, take this after dark tour with Professionals in the City to some of Capitol Hill's inviting venues - from the swanky Lounge 201 to one of DC's only biergartens - the Scheisse Haus.

Lounge 201
We'll begin our evening at a little gem known as Lounge 201. The plush atmosphere feels like a retro martini bar complete with comfortable leather couches, jazz playing in the background, and a classy "classics" drink menu. The stylish venue features semicircular red-leather booths, leather chairs and couches; two swank bars, two billiard tables, a large plasma screen TV, numerous other TVS, and well-crafted cocktails by a friendly staff. Lounge 201 has seen its share of stars and has been in the spotlight since its opening. David Brock held a book release party there and George Clooney also hosted a fete. We can't guarantee any superstars will show up at this party, but you never know...

Finn Mac Cool's Cork Publick House
We'll then head to an Irish neighborhood pub where you will see Irish musicians perform traditional music and old pop songs while patrons sing and clap along. This Cork house is a 19th-century structure with soaring ceilings and rugged, time-worn brick walls, arches and doorways. It's a great place to relax and enjoy one of Finn Mac Cool's Beamish on draft, a wonderful Irish stout that was previously unavailable in Washington. Every glass they pour is brewed in County Cork, Ireland.

Tapatini's
Set in a small storefront on the rejuvenated stretch of Barracks Row on Capitol Hill, Tapatinis offers a neighborhood crowd a casual, yet stylish, place to hang out with tasty martinis and a diverse tapas menu. In the narrow lounge, groups cluster in circular booths and on red benches, and spotlights in rotating colors bathe the space in a warm glow. A handsome granite bar accented by multi-colored pendant lights anchors the back of the room, and a small patio in the back allows guests to enjoy nice weather. The bar mixes classic martinis along with sweeter flavors, such as white chocolate and sweet apple. For a snack with your martini, order a few small plates from the tapas menu, which offers smoked salmon carpaccio, fried calamari, crab croquettes, hummus and pita, eggplant caponata and peppered beef filet with asparagus. Try a specialty martini like their rich and chocolaty Butterscotch/Caramel martini or their Godiva Chocolate martini. Or you could go for something more tropical like their Honeydew Melon or Lime Coconut martini.

Scheisse Haus
The Scheisse Haus captures the biergarten spirit. A collection of Old European artwork and carvings adorn the walls. Lighted display boxes encase authentic bier steins and mugs. Booths, high tops, oversized couches, and armchairs add to the comfortable flexibility of the space. A long bar snakes one wall boasting 11 draft beers and an extensive list of bottled German beers alongside domestics, seasonal, and imports. Also find some Old European additions to the Pour House menu. In true biergarten spirit receive your drafts in 22-ounce and sturdy 34-ounce steins. Walk to the back of the room and find the biergarten lined with sturdy wooden tables and benches perfect for gatherings amidst the clanking of steins. And of course there's billiards, LCD/HD TVs, and an Internet jukebox with over 100,000 songs.
